Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s epilepsy center is among the first three in the nation to receive certification from The Joint Commission for its efforts to care for patients with seizures.
Primary Stroke Center.
The Joint Commission certified Barnes-Jewish Hospital as a Primary Stroke Center - the first hospital in the St. Louis area to receive the honor. Achievement of certification as a Primary Stroke Center signifies that the services at Barnes-Jewish have the critical elements to achieve long-term success in improving outcomes for stroke patients.
The American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS).
Washington University bariatric surgery program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital received the designation as an ASBS Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence in 2006.
Lung Volume Reduction Center of Excellence.
Washington University School of Medicine lung volume reduction surgery program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital earned designation as a Center of Excellence in 2007. Certification by the Joint Commission recognizes the program’s longstanding clinical excellence, outstanding patient care and leadership in thoracic surgery.
