The Xavier College of Pharmacy Education Outreach program was launched in March 2007 to assist Barnes-Jewish Hospital with recruiting and retaining pharmacy (PharmD) graduates. In addition to providing a pipeline of high ranking and outstanding pharmacy school graduates to support these recruitment efforts, the program was initiated to provide a training resource for Xavier University pharmacy students whose education was affected by Hurricane Katrina. Xavier University, a historical black college (HBCU), is a leader in recruiting underrepresented minorities into its pharmacy program. U.S. News & World Report ranked the college among the top 50 southern Master’s universities in the country.
