Rehabilitation

In the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Department of Rehabilitation, you’ll find extraordinary opportunities to improve the lives of patients in ways both big and small— from their simple smile, to taking their first step, unassisted.

Here, you’ll experience the essence of care and healing. Our broad range of therapy services includes special focus on prevention, preservation and restoration of mobility, fitness, activities of daily living, communication, cognition, and swallowing. Our individual therapy sessions incorporate both the patient and their family into the treatment development and educational process—promoting a truly collaborative care model.

The Rehabilitation department at Barnes-Jewish Hospital has partnered with The Center for Diversity and Cultural Competence to develop cultural competence training tailored to their specific needs.  These sessions involved education and coaching on how to adopt behavior changes that ultimately improve patient care, safety and quality.

Our team of rehabilitation professionals includes Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants and Speech Language Pathologists.

Therapy services are provided to a variety of patient care areas including medicine, surgery, orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, oncology, and the special care nursery.
