Safe Cooking Temperature

To make sure any harmful bacteria that may be present in ground meat are destroyed, pay attention to the internal cooking temperature, advises the Food and Drug Administration. Ground meat should be cooked to an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees F. To check the temperature, use an accurate, instant-read food thermometer, and place it so that it goes into the meat, but not out the other side to touch the cooking pan.
