BJC Creates Leadership Position to Prepare for Health Care Reform

As the new administration declares health care reform to be the nation’s number one legislative priority, BJC has established a new leadership post to coordinate preparations across the organization.

Andy Ziskind, MD, former president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, has been named to the new senior vice president position, reporting to BJC president and CEO Steven Lipstein.

In his new role, Ziskind will be responsible for understanding the implications of each policy option, the mechanics of its implementation, its impact on current BJC operations and the changes needed at BJC in response.

He will work with leadership across all BJC hospitals and health service organizations. Reform proposals are projected to be enacted beginning around 2012 and lasting through 2018.
