Cardinals Cap Fighting Cancer

A national leader in cancer is partnering with a National League leader to help fight cancer.

The St Louis Cardinals and Sportservice will offer a limited-edition Cardinals cap for the 2010 season. Ten dollars from the sale of each cap will go to Siteman Cancer Center for cancer research.

"The Cardinals are proud to team up with the Siteman Cancer Center to do our part in the fight against cancer," says Bill DeWitt, III, Cardinals president.

The cap is a traditional Cardinals cap with the "STL" logo, but it also features a multi-colored ribbon signifying awareness of all cancers on the side.

"The Siteman Cancer Center is among the nation's leaders in cancer research, and thanks to the Cardinals, we can develop new therapies and treatments to fight cancer," says Timothy Eberlein, MD, Siteman director.

The cap is available for purchase at the Cardinals Store at Busch Stadium. The cost is $20.

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy is one of the best tools in the fight against cancer. It can prevent cancerous cells from spreading into normal body tissues and can slow or stop tumor growth. Find out more in this "Cancer Connection" podcast with Dennis Hallahan, MD, chairman of the department of radiation oncology at Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.
