Dacey Named President of Neurosurgery Leaders’ Group

Ralph G. Dacey, MD, has been named president of the American Academy of Neurological Surgery, a national organization for the leaders of academic and hospital neurological surgery departments. Dr. Dacey’s tenure as president will continue through November 2009, when he gives the president’s address at the organization’s annual meeting in Palm Beach, Fl.

Dr. Dacey has also been named to a three-year term as chairman of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME’s) Residency Review Committee for neurological surgery. The ACGME is the organization that accredits post-doctoral programs for medical education in the United States.

Dr. Dacey is the Henry G. and Edith R. Schwartz Professor and the chairman at Washington University School of Medicine department of neurological surgery and neurosurgeon-in-chief at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He joined the faculty in 1989.

He currently serves as director-at-large of the Board for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He was also appointed as neurosurgery’s representative to the National Institutes of Health.
