ST. LOUIS - In a tremendous outpouring of support, $1.9 million was raised for the Cancer Frontier Fund last Saturday evening to fund life saving research at the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington School of Medicine.
Over 500 people attended the Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s annual illumination Gala, co-chaired by Tom Hillman, founder of FTL Capital Partners, and Ron Kruszewski, CEO of Stifel Nicolaus. The luxury package auction and special guest performance by Oscar nominee and songwriter Minnie Driver highlighted the evening.
Cancer Frontier Fund visionaries Bill and Amy Koman, along with Ambassador and Mrs. Sam Fox, Joe and Mary Stieven, Ron Kruszewski, Tom and Jennifer Hillman, Ken and Shawn Suelthaus, Bob Clark, Tim and Amy Claxton, George and Melissa Paz, Michael and Carol Staenberg, Ken Steinback, Pat and Aja Stokes, Jim and Stacey Weddle, Steve and Katie Schankman, John and Alicia Tlapek, Greg and Lisa Boyce, Paul and Donna Melnuk, and Grant Williams were eager to set the pace by raising their paddles during both the luxury auction and the fund-a-cure segment.
Tim Eberlein, MD, director of Siteman Cancer Center, and Barnes-Jewish Hospital president Rich Liekweg took the stage to personally thank all guests for carrying on the St. Louis “spirit of giving."
Launched in 2009, the goal of the Cancer Frontier Fund is to raise $50 million to support innovative clinical research that will accelerate the pace of discoveries at the Siteman Cancer Center that has the potential to change cancer care around the world.
