The Campus Renewal Project at Barnes-Jewish and St. Louis Children’s hospitals is well underway with an overall focus on improving the patient and family experience. New construction at Barnes-Jewish Hospital entails a 12-story, 558,000 square foot inpatient tower with all private rooms. The new building will enable the consolidation and expansion of inpatient cancer care adjacent to the Siteman Cancer Center. A modernized and expanded women and infants program will connect to an expanded neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, providing proximity and comfort that parents seek. New state-of-the-art operating rooms and diagnostics also are included.
St. Louis Children's Hospital’s 12-story expansion will have an increased number of private beds with expanded diagnostics and treatments services, outpatient clinics and support services.
Excavation for both buildings began mid-2014. Steel erection began in March 2015. Both buildings are scheduled for occupation mid-2017.
