The Foundation partners with the community to provide essential services where they're needed most.
In 2014, donor gifts funded nearly 23,000 free flu shots to keep our community healthier.
Donor gifts also make it possible for disadvantaged elderly and chronically ill patients to return home after hospitalization through support of home care visits, medications, medical equipment, and cab fares to doctor appointments. This assistance helps these patients to better manage their care in a familiar home environment and maintain more independence.
Gifts also support the Siteman Cancer Center's Breast Health Outreach Program. This program, which helps all women regardless of ability to pay, is designed to address the high rate of women diagnosed with late-stage breast cancer in some areas of St. Louis. The program's mammography van has been critical to finding breast cancer at earlier, more treatable stages in these women. Through the Breast Health Outreach Program, the mammography van team has guided more than 4,000 women through cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
The Foundation's community support extends beyond our hospital outreach programs to help other community organizations that complement our mission to improve health care in the St. Louis area.
