Geriatric Therapy: Addressing the Changes and Challenges of Aging

This one-day course is designed to provide an overview of the challenges associated with the normal and pathological changes that occur with aging. It will address many of the impairments that are commonly seen during a multidisciplinary approach to the management of the geriatric client. Participants will be introduced to treatment strategies and community resources available for geriatric clients.

Target Audience: PTs, OTs, PTAs, COTAs, and SLPs who provide rehabilitation to geriatric clients in the acute, subacute, rehab or home health settings.

Dietary needs for the aging client
10-11 a.m. Non-pharmacological dementia interventions   2:45-3:15 p.m.
Driving assessments 
11-11:30 a.m. Age related changes with swallowing   3:15-3:45 p.m.
Community resources and technology
11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Musculoskeletal changes   3:45-4 p.m. Questions
