Cancer Frontier Fund Supports Eight New Cancer Research Projects

Gifts to the Cancer Frontier Fund at The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital recently funded eight projects through the Siteman Investment Program (SIP), a research grant program at The Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine. In total, Siteman Cancer Center disbursed $1.5 million from a variety of sources, including $1.2 million from the Cancer Frontier Fund.

The Foundation Hosts Third Annual Nicholas T. Kouchoukos Research Day

Because Dr. Kouchoukos feels so passionately about research and training the next generation, he established The Nicholas T. Kouchoukos, MD, Endowed Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2018.

“We need to train cardiothoracic surgeons who are both good surgeons and good clinical investigators,” Dr. Kouchoukos says. “It’s critical to have people in the field who are innovative, continue to push the limits, and make advances that enhance patient care.”
