Barnes-Jewish Hospital and its physician partners at Washington University School of Medicine are once again listed among the nation’s elite medical centers in U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of “Best Hospitals,” and are again ranked No. 1 in both the St. Louis metro area and Missouri.          

Barnes-Jewish Hospital, consistently ranked as one of the nation’s best hospitals and heart and vascular centers, was recently honored with two prestigious awards: the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Foundation’s NDCR ACTION Registry®–Get With the Guidelines™ (GWTG) Platinum Performance Achievement Award and the American Heart Association’s (AHA) 2014 Resuscitation Quality Achievement Award.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital was one of the first hospitals in the country to offer patients the opportunity to have brain surgery using technology that reduced the need for follow-up surgery. Its neurosurgery team has reached a milestone by performing more than 1,000 cases using its moveable intraoperative MRI (iMRI) system – more than any other center in the United States.

The list includes organizations such as hospitals, health systems, ambulatory surgery centers, physician groups, vendors and other healthcare organizations that have demonstrated having robust benefits, opportunities for self-improvement, employee appreciation and strong ties between staff members. 

Cancer got personal on April 26 at The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital's annual illumination gala. More than 500 guests at The Ritz-Carlton raised a record-setting $2.1 million for cancer research at the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
