Pancreatic cysts are fluid collections in or on the pancreas. Most pancreatic cysts are benign (non-cancerous) and require only close monitoring with
CT scans and MRI.
Pancreatic cysts can go unnoticed and have minimal symptoms while others will have symptoms similar to those of pancreatitis, including the following:
- Yellowing of the skin and eyes ( jaundice).
TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR PANCREATIC CYSTS
- Drainage: if a cyst is growing, it can be drained using an endoscope equipped with a small needle;
- Surgery: if a cyst is causing pain or is cancerous, surgery may be required to remove it.
