DAVID G. MUTCH ELECTED 41ST PRESIDENT OF THE SOCIETY OF GYNECOLOGIC ONCOLOGISTS

David G. Mutch, MD, director of gynecologic oncology at Washington University School of Medicine and Ira C. and Judith Gall Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been elected the 41st president of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists (SGO). 

Mutch has been the recipient of multiple research grants from the American Cancer Society and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), among others. 

He has authored or co-authored more than 180 peer-reviewed publications, as well as numerous book chapters on the treatment of cancers of the female reproductive tract. 

Currently, Mutch is the co-principal investigator on an NIH grant looking at defective DNA mismatch repair in endometrial cancers. 

Mutch is also co-investigator of a newly awarded prestigious SPORE Grant in endometrial cancer. Paul Goodfellow, PhD, co-director of the Hereditary Cancer Core at the Siteman Cancer Center and professor of surgery, is the principle investigator. 

He has been a member of SGO’s council since 2005. In addition to his membership and work with SGO, Mutch is a member of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and serves as a reviewer for multiple medical journals related to women’s health and cancers of the female reproductive tract.
