LETTER FROM RICH LIEKWEG

As we start a new year together, I am reminded how fortunate my family and I are to have recently joined Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the St. Louis community. I also realize how privileged we are to have a national leader in medicine right here in our backyard. Barnes-Jewish Hospital has a rich history of medical advances and dedication to the care of our patients, along with our physician partners at Washington University School of Medicine.

In these pages of Innovate we focus on heart and vascular health, detailing our new Hybrid OR, where minimally invasive approaches are now available for a variety of procedures, from the repair of damaged heart valves to the opening of clogged carotid arteries. The Hybrid OR allows interventional cardiologists along with cardiac and vascular surgeons to perform these procedures in an environment that provides the highest level of care and technology.

The breakthrough care outlined in Innovate is possible because our employees and physicians have a powerful responsibility to collaborate and keep the patient in the center of every decision we make—I am honored to work alongside them as we provide exceptional care to our patients.

Sincere Regards,

Richard Liekweg
President, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital
