BJC Center for Clinical Excellence

The BJC Center for Clinical Excellence comprises diverse health care professionals, including epidemiologists, analysts, computer programmers, industrial engineers and quality consultants. The Center provides leadership in quality assessment and health services research throughout BJC HealthCare, as all BJC hospitals and service organizations strive to continually improve the quality of services offered to patients, including best practices in infection control, patient safety and rapid alert systems.

As BJC HealthCare is committed to offering patients the highest quality of care, it's important for patients and family members to know how BJC HealthCare hospitals perform compared to national recognized quality indicators. The links provided here offer those comparative views.

Missouri Hospital Association: Missouri Health Matters

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Hospital Compare

Hospital Compare is offered by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. You can search for a hospital by ZIP code.

Once you get to the hospital’s profile, you will see how that hospital compared to both the state average and the national average in patient experience – using a national survey called HCAHPS, Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems. HCAHPS is the first national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients' perspectives of hospital care.

The Joint Commission

An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 19,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.

The Joint Commission also provides meaningful information about the comparative performance of accredited organizations through its quality check website.
