Thank you for your interest in becoming part of our volunteer team at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Our volunteers become part of the care team by assisting patients and families or by assisting the people who care for our patients. Feedback from both staff and families indicates that having caring volunteers in the hospital truly makes a positive difference at a critical time in their lives.

Because of our patient care focus, we are always looking for those people who wish to be of help to others, have good communication skills and are willing to be flexible. We offer an opportunity for a meaningful experience and the chance to make a difference in people's lives. We ask volunteers to support our mission of taking exceptional care of people.

Become a Volunteer

Because your application process is important to us and we want to ensure a stress free experience, we ask that you:

1. Complete the Volunteer Application Form.
2. Print and fill out the Background Check Form.
3. Read carefully and complete all items on the Application Checklist.

When we receive your application, you will be contacted by our office to schedule an interview appointment with the manager of volunteer services. Please note your appointment time, location of the office, parking garage and name of the person you will be meeting. Please bring our phone number with you in case of problems, and bring your parking ticket to the office so we can stamp for free parking.

Teens and High School Students

If you are a teen interested in volunteering, please do not complete the online volunteer application. To apply to the Teen Summer Volunteer Program or volunteer during the school year, please call (314) 362-5324.
