April 2, 2007, ST. LOUIS - Local dance artists - including several who have been treated for cancer - unite to present an evening of dance to benefit the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.
"Moving Voices - An Evening of Dance" is Saturday, April 14 at 8 p.m. and Sunday April 15 at 4 p.m. at the Orthwein Theatre in the Bryant Arts Complex located on the campus of Mary Institute and Country Day School (MICDS), 101 N. Warson Road. The project is co-directed by Gail Wechsler, Dawn Karlovsky and Mary Ann Rund and involves several local choreographers who will each contribute one or two dance works for the concert.
"We envision this concert as a means of assisting the Siteman Cancer Center with all it does to promote cancer research," says Wechsler, who - like Rund - was treated for cancer at Siteman.
Tickets for the concert are $20. All money received from ticket sales and any other individual donations received in support of this concert will be donated directly to the Siteman Cancer Center.
Tickets may be purchased by credit card by calling the Barnard Health and Cancer Information Center at 314-362-7844. Tickets also may be purchased by check. To do so, send a check payable to "Siteman Cancer Center" and specify the date of the performance and the number of tickets requested. Put "Moving Voices" on the memo line of your check.
