October 19, 2007, ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Cardinals great Mike Shannon will serve honorary chairman of CUREiosity, an urban-inspired party to benefit cancer research at the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., Friday, November 9 at 555 Washington Ave. in the downtown loft district.
The event is designed to raise awareness about cancer among young St. Louis professionals, in addition to celebrating "Rock Docs" and "Star Patients" who make a difference. Proceeds will benefit cancer research at the Siteman Cancer Center, with a portion of the funds being directed to the Mike and Judy Shannon Brain Tumor Research Fund. Shannon, is joining Siteman at the benefit after his wife Judy died of brain cancer earlier this year.
