Stroke Research and Clinical Trials

The mission of the Barnes-Jewish & Washington University Stroke & Cerebrovascular Center is to improve the care of our patients affected by stroke and cerebrovascular disease through excellence in clinical care and research.

Our nationally-recognized research continues to put us at the forefront of new and specialized treatments for stroke and cerebrovascular diseases, such as brain aneurysms, giving more patients a better chance against these debilitating conditions. When approved treatments are not the best course of action, patients are given the opportunity to receive investigational therapies or enroll in clinical trials that might offer a new approach to recovery and healing.

For a complete list of stroke and cerebrovascular clinical studies at Washington University School of Medicine, as well as eligibility criteria, visit clinicaltrials.gov.

We also continue to lead the way in clinical and translational research. Washington University stroke researchers at the Stroke & Cerebrovascular Center were awarded one of only eight Specialized Programs of Translational Research in Acute Stroke (SPOTRIAS) grants in the country. The grant supports research into the advancement of acute stroke care.
