Ryan's Art

This summer, Donna Nelson treasured many days she spent with her oldest grandson, Ryan, while she was going through cancer treatment. On many of his visits, Ryan brought art that he made for Donna. Ryan has shared some pieces of his art with you below.

Often the art Ryan brought shared messages from Donna's family members

On Mother's Day 2010, Ryan drew this message to help Donna celebrate her day.

Ryan's artwork and company meant so much to Donna, says Paul Newman, Donna's husband.

At Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the arts are understood as an integral part of hope and healing. The Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation's Arts + Healthcare Program was established to foster this belief, and bring arts to patients, care givers and staff to help find strength and renewal in the midst of stress and sometimes sorrow. To find our more about the program, please visit our Arts + Healthcare page.
