Orthopedic Concierge Services

As an orthopedic patient at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, you will have access to a concierge representative on your floor, a service that is unique for a hospital in St. Louis.  If needed, the concierge can meet you at the valet service and escort you to appointments and provide assistance at discharge. This team member’s mission is to make your stay as comfortable as possible so your focus can be on recovery.  Concierge assistance is offered at no charge.

A concierge representative is available to help assist you and your caregiver with information, services and special requests, including:

Orthopedics Concierge Services

In addition, we can offer a variety of puzzles, books, magazines and newspapers during your stay.  Patients and families can check out laptops and DVD players at no charge.  Many orthopedic patients also require assistance in picking up their spine or hip kits from the Center for Advanced Medicine, if needed, the concierge can take care of this task.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital realizes that many of our patients travel from outside the St. Louis area to receive their orthopedic care.  The orthopedic concierge will be able to assist you with airline tickets, printing boarding passes, transportation and car rentals.

Office Location

The orthopedic concierge office is located on 7300/7400 on South Campus.  Hours are 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

"The best part of my job is meeting different patients and their caregivers each day.  I want to make sure that they feel welcome and I treat them as if they are members of my family.  If any of my relatives were hospitalized, I would be delighted for them to experience the excellent care that we provide," says Kate Baltz, the orthopedic concierge at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

“I worked at a luxury hotel as the manager of its concierge services for more than five years, so I understand the importance of anticipating needs. I am able to fulfill a wide range of requests, as each patient has a unique situation,” says Baltz. “I have seen that personalized service—everything from running errands and arranging services, to just spending a few extra minutes talking and listening—can relieve stress in a bustling and unfamiliar environment."
