ST. LOUIS - For the 16th consecutive year, Barnes-Jewish Hospital is recognized as the only hospital in the St. Louis area with the highest quality and image according to research by the National Research Corporation (NRC) in their list of 2011/2012 Consumer Choice Award winners.

Ranked hospitals are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in the company’s Ticker survey. This study surveys over 250,000 households representing over 450,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia. From the households surveyed, 3200 hospitals named by consumers are analyzed and ranked based on their Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs) as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau, with the winning facilities being ranked the highest.

The award identifies hospitals whose health care consumers have recognized in more than 300 markets throughout the U.S.

“As we strive to improve the patient experience, this award shows our efforts are paying off,” says Rich Liekweg, president of Barnes-Jewish. “Not only is Barnes-Jewish recognized for clinical excellence, but also for high quality service.”

The Ticker Survey is the largest comprehensive study of its kind. NRC is a recognized industry leader, with more than two decades of experience in health care specific performance measurement.
