Elder Care Community

Our long-term care services are designed to help people live life to the fullest in a warm, comfortable setting. Private and semi-private rooms are available with cable television connections and a paging system direct to your caregiver in each room. You can make the room homey with your own furniture, photographs and other personal touches.

We strive to help each resident live as independently as possible to maximize their personal goals. We honor each resident’s individuality in their daily routines and offer choices that focus on wellness and personal fulfillment.

We make every effort to create a home for each resident in long-term care. Additionally, our chaplain is dedicated to providing for each resident’s spiritual needs.

Recreational Therapy Program

We offer each resident a diverse recreational therapy program. With field trips, live entertainment, social activities, fitness classes and happy hours, the atmosphere at Barnes-Jewish Extended Care is designed to stimulate each resident.

Dining Services

Our residents and their families can enjoy an elegant restaurant-style main dining room as well as assisted dining rooms on each floor. Each dining area has a cozy fireplace and expansive windows.

Medical Staff

An attending physician is assigned to each resident to meet their medical needs. A consulting pharmacist reviews each patient’s chart monthly to monitor medications and prevent overmedication or any drug interactions. Another essential part of our staff is our award-winning wound care team.

Our medical director is a geriatric specialist who understands the special medical and emotional needs of the elderly. Geriatric consultation is also available to address health issues in older adults such as memory loss, confusion, immobility, incontinence, falls, medication issues, nutrition problems and depression. Residents receive a consultation as necessary for a complete evaluation of current health to create a tailored plan of care. Residents also benefit from available dentistry and support services including a Parkinson’s exercise group, social services and access to other community resources. Our residents receive the utmost attention from a variety of medical professionals to ensure they remain healthy and comfortable.

Special Touches of Convenience and Comfort

Barnes-Jewish Extended Care also has a library, sitting rooms and beauty salon services. A bright living room is available to reserve for family get together. It overlooks a beautiful, wrought iron, fenced courtyard with a gazebo, mature trees, flowers and seating areas for residents. For visiting family and friends, convenient, free parking is available.
