The Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine has joined the highest ranking cancer research and treatment institutions with a designation by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center. This distinction recognizes Siteman''s broad-based research, outreach and education activities, and provides Siteman with research funding of $21 million.

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), ovarian cancer accounts for 4 percent of all cancers among women and ranks fifth among all female cancer deaths. And while mortality rates for other cancers have declined over time, the death rate for this disease has not changed much in the last 50 years.
