The St. Louis Cardinals and Sportservice will offer a limited edition Cardinals hat for the 2010 season with $10 dollars from sales of each hat going to the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine for cancer research.

The NBA’s All-Time Leading Scorer and Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will host the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation’s “illumination10,” the annual gala benefiting the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, Saturday, May 15 at the Chase Park Plaza.

With a message of “Together, One Reason” the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine and KSDK/NewsChannel 5 will join forces at the 2010 Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure, Saturday, June 12 in downtown St. Louis for what they hope will be St. Louis’ largest Race Team.

While Washington University physicians at Barnes-Jewish Hospital pioneered the first successful procedure to treat atrial fibrillation in the ‘80’s, they are on the forefront in treating the irregular heartbeat with two procedures.

Kidney donors are likely to live as long as non-donors, research shows.

Thanks to many generous donors, including those who make tribute gifts to support Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College, Barnes-Jewish Hospital can invest in the students who are the future of better patient care, service, and outcomes.

Sue Gallop, or "Su Su" to her nine grandchildren, left a legacy of love, optimism, and giving to others.  When Sue passed away in September 2009, more than 160 tribute gifts in her memory poured into the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation...including a gift from money raised by her grandchildren at a lemonade stand.

Colon cancer is considered by many physicians to be a preventable cancer.  To get out the message, Siteman Cancer Center is a sponsor of the annual "Undy 5000."

No one questions the images a CT scan gives physicians in seeing the inside of a patient’s body.  What is in doubt however, is the tie such scans have to cancer risk.
