SCHOOL OF NURSING UNVEILS A NEW FACILITY

The Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College has welcomed more than 600 students to its new $40 million facility. The state-of-the-art facility and an updatedcurriculum have an increased focus on research and clinical experience.

The building is equipped with some of the nation’s most advanced simulation labs to allow nursing students to react to challenging clinical situations before facing them with real patients. Research shows that newly graduated nurses are more likely to stay in the profession if their curriculum has included extensive hands-on patient simulation.

“The new building allows us to reinvent how we educate nurses,” says Michael Evans, PhD, dean of the School of Nursing. “Simulated patient rooms, videoconferencing capabilities and spacious clinical labs allow our educators to create simulated clinical experiences as a rigorous, hands-on introduction to caring for future patients.”
