While Washington University physicians at Barnes-Jewish Hospital pioneered the first successful procedure to treat atrial fibrillation in the ‘80’s, they are on the forefront in treating the irregular heartbeat with two procedures.

Gregorio Sicard, MD, chief of the vascular surgery section at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, is receiving the 2010 Hero with a Heart Award from the National Marfan Foundation (NMF) at Heartworks St. Louis, on March 6 at the Chase Park Plaza. 

Physicians at Barnes-Jewish Hospital can expand use of a device targeted at helping heart failure patients survive long term, thanks to a decision today by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
