Barnes-Jewish Hospital chairman of the board Patrick Stokes and hospital president Rich Liekweg remembered hospital founder Robert Barnes by placing a wreath at his gravesite June 17. The ceremony continued a tradition established in 1914.

Washington University surgeons performed the first combined heart-kidney transplant at Barnes-Jewish Hospital June 2 and 3 on Jonathan Sadowski, 20, of O’Fallon, MO. The transplant offers hope for other area patients suffering from both heart and kidney failure.

Linda Qualls received a donor kidney from her daughter Michala in April, ending years of dialysis treatments.
