Trauma Education for Healthcare Professionals

The trauma team at Barnes-Jewish is committed to providing ongoing education for health care professionals.

Annual Trends in Trauma Conference

In addition to delivering the latest advances in trauma care, the Annual Trends in Trauma Conference provides essential education for pre-hospital personnel, physicians, nurses, and staff across the Emergency Department, critical care, and bedside settings.

Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)

The ATLS® program was developed to teach doctors a safe, reliable method for assessing and initially managing the trauma patient. The course teaches an organized approach for evaluation and management of seriously injured patients and offers a foundation of common knowledge for all members of the trauma team.

Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) was developed and implemented for national and international dissemination as a means of identifying a standardized body of trauma nursing knowledge. The TNCC is a two-day course designed to provide attendees with knowledge and psychomotor skills. The purpose of TNCC is to present core-level knowledge, refine skills, and build a firm foundation in trauma nursing.

Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN)

Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) is an advanced course designed for the registered nurse interested in increasing their knowledge in management of the multiple trauma patients.

Rural Trauma Team Development  (need link)

Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC™) improves the quality of care in rural communities by developing a timely, organized, and systemic response to the care of the trauma patient. The course emphasizes a team approach to address common problems in the initial assessment and stabilization of the injured.
