Traffic Offenders
The Traffic Offenders Program is designed to help high-risk drivers understand the choices and consequences that come with unsafe driving. This court-ordered program educates participants about the realities of motor vehicle trauma by taking them through the same path they would experience if they had been seriously injured in a crash. Through a graphic and realistic view of life as a crash survivor, traffic offenders gain a deeper awareness of the lasting impact of dangerous driving behaviors. Register online.
Think First
Barnes-Jewish Hospital trauma services represents the St. Louis chapter of Think First, a national injury prevention program. Think First is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about brain and spinal cord injury prevention. The program takes a powerful, real-life approach, sharing the stories of young people whose lives were forever changed by traumatic injuries. In addition, health educators provide students with important knowledge about the brain, spinal cord, and central nervous system, helping them understand both the impact of injuries and the importance of making safe choices.
Fall Prevention 101
The one-hour program, for adults 65 years and older, addresses safe driving, fall prevention, and fire safety, with practical tips to make daily routines and home environments safer, both inside and outside the home.
Matter of Balance
A Matter of Balance is an eight-week, evidence-based program designed to help older adults reduce their fear of falling and stay active. Participants learn practical strategies to prevent falls, make their homes safer, and improve balance, strength, and flexibility. The program also builds confidence, empowering older adults to stay independent, increase physical activity safely, and manage concerns about falling.
