Heart Disease Prevention Program

The Heart Disease Prevention Program is a new way to manage cardiovascular health. This comprehensive risk assessment program is designed to prevent, detect and treat heart disease.

Participants have access to the following services:

  • one-on-one meeting with a board-certified cardiologist

  • heart health education from dietitians, exercise specialists, behavior specialists, tobacco cessation professionals and other professionals

  • possible long-term follow-up for prevention of heart disease

  • latest screening technologies to identify early signs of heart disease

  • opportunities to participate in clinical trials

A Comprehensive Look at the Heart

Prior to the first visit, participants are asked to have blood tests and complete a questionnaire to assess the individual risk of heart disease.

At the visit, a Heart Disease Prevention Program cardiologist will conduct a thorough risk assessment and discuss the risk for heart disease. Additional tests or lifestyle modifications will be recommended if needed, including:

  • vascular screening package that includes carotid Doppler and abdominal aortic ultrasound

  • coronary calcium screening with heart scans to look for coronary artery calcification (heart attack risk factor)

  • carotid intima-media thickness that assesses risk using an ultrasound

  • echocardiogram

  • stress testing, including exercise echocardiography and myocardial perfusion imaging studies

  • CT angiography

Since this program is offered through one of the top 10 hospitals in the nation, any participants found to have heart disease can be treated immediately with the latest innovations, preventing future complications and potentially saving their lives.

All participants will be able to start a follow-up program to assure ongoing measures are taken to maintain optimal heart health.
