APPLICATION FAQ

APPLYING AT BARNES-JEWISH HOSPITAL

A BJC HealthCare employee referred me to a job.  How do I make sure the employee gets recognition for the referral?

You must provide the name and email address of the referring employee when you submit an application. Under “Referral Information” choose “Employee” from the first drop down box.  You will then be able to type in the “Referral Name” and “Email Address”.

How will I be evaluated for a job at Barnes-Jewish Hospital?

We will carefully assess your application, resume/CV, and experience related to the job for which you are applying. We’ll also consider you for other jobs that might match your background and expertise. If you are being considered for a job, a member of our Talent Acquisition team will contact you.

If I have a question, can I speak with someone?

If your question cannot be answered by information provided on this site, contact our Talent Acquisition department at (314) 362-0700. Your call will be routed to a team member who can best assist you.

Is there another way to apply for a job at Barnes-Jewish Hospital?

For applicants without access to a computer, we offer computer equipment in the lobby of our Talent Acquisition department. Assistance is available to anyone who may not be comfortable with or able to use a computer.

How long is the application-to-hire process?

We process a large volume of applications and employee transfers each day. Processing time for individual applications will vary due to the volume of qualified applicants for each position, screening and interview schedules, access to employment verification information, and timing of orientation schedules. Not everyone who applies will receive a job offer. We strive to hire only the best and most highly qualified candidates for each of our openings. If you believe you are the best, we welcome you to apply.

Can I apply for multiple jobs?

You are welcome to apply for multiple jobs; however, be certain that you meet all the skill and education requirements for the job, and that you have a sincere interest in each position for which you are applying.

Can I search for available jobs before I register an account?

Yes, you can search jobs without an account. You can then register an account for yourself once you identify a position that you’re interested in. NOTE: IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR EMPLOYMENT, YOU MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO A SPECIFIC JOB(S).

Is an email address required in order to apply for a position?

Yes, you are required to have an email address when submitting an application. If you do not have an email address, you can create one for free by clicking/selecting one of the following websites: Yahoo!, Gmail (Google), AOL.

What if I can't find a specific job, but I have skills and experience you may be seeking?

You should create an account and complete your profile information even if you do not see a job for which you wish to apply at this time. Be sure to include your specialized skills and experience, as we frequently conduct searches of candidate profiles. If your active information is retrieved by one of our searches, a member of our Talent Acquisition team will contact you as jobs matching your skills and experience become available. You can also set up search agents to automatically notify you via email of potential job matches as they become available.

What is a sourcing requisition (job posting)?

This is a general job posting for a position at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. This is not a current job opening. This job posting is used to collect applications in anticipation of positions opening at the hospital. When a position does become available, applicants on the sourcing requisition will be given first consideration.  Applications on a sourcing requisition are held up to 90 days and then a new sourcing requisition will be created. As applicants are being reviewed, you may receive additional notifications from a Talent Acquisition Specialist.

How do I know that I have applied to a sourcing requisition (job posting)?

The title of the job posting will include the phrase “Sourcing”.

What happens at the end of the 90 day period?

At the end of the 90 days any remaining applicants will be sent a notification to apply to the new sourcing requisition if the applicant is still interested in a position.

Why do I have to apply to a sourcing requisition vs. an actual opening?

The sourcing requisition is set up to allow the candidates the ease of applying to one requisition instead of applying to each requisition for the same position. In most cases there is an actual open position that we are actively recruiting for. Sometimes we may not have an actual opening but are looking to pre-screen applicants for when an opening become available. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will let you know if there are open positions available during the screening process.
